God’s Master Plan!

If the thought has ever crossed your mind, “Where do I fit into God’s plan?” I can assure you you’re not alone. I too have found myself lost in deep thought wondering if I really matter in God’s master plan. With billions of people in this world is it possible that some of us are destined to just be mediocre Christians that live out their years simply passing through this small wrinkle in time. God couldn’t possible use all of us could he? Or could he? It took me 31 years to discover the answer, and like all great things in life, this one took God’s perfect timing.

“You know what your dad said the other day sweetie?” mom asked chasing Isaac in the living room as he made a B-line for the Christmas tree. My son is the newest grand baby in years and my parents are completely smitten with our sweet blonde, blue eyed adventurous boy. “What is that?” I smiled watching with my dad from the kitchen table. “He was looking at Isaac’s pictures on his phone like he always does in the evenings and said, if we hadn’t gotten you sweetie, we would have never been blessed with this sweet little boy!”

No words could I muster and yet so much emotion welled up inside of me in that moment. Unbeknownst to my parents, they had just provided the answer to the very question I had been asking myself for years. Where did I fit in God’s master plan? The answer was love, the greatest of all virtues. The truth is if we measure our success based on what the world views as successful, we’ll never measure up. I’ll never write good enough. I’ll never be a good enough mother. I’ll never…never…never. We will find ourselves always falling just short of where we think God’s wants us to be.

The truth is we already are successful in God’s eyes! He has always been using us for his master plan.  Greatness in God’s kingdom is measured by how much we love Him and share that love with others. The love we share with the world has a ripple effect on people’s lives for generations to come whether they realize it or not. My mom and dad adopted me, but no one would ever know unless I told them because they love me like their own. In fact, it’s a topic that’s rarely discussed because to us it doesn’t matter who I came from, I am theirs, I’ve always been theirs.

Because a little girl was loved the chains of despair were broken, and she grew into a young woman who accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She fell in love with a good Christian man who inspires her to be a better person every day. They decided they had too much love to keep all to themselves and with God’s promise and His blessing they gave birth to a son who without even realizing it has already blessed his family with more love than he could ever imagine. Because two people chose love this same woman receive her calling in Christ to share her stories, her triumphs, her failures, with the world spreading God’s love as far as he needs them to go.

I don’t have all the answers. Nor do I pretend to. But what I do know is that every happen stance, every twist and turn in our lives, is leading us down a path to greatness that might not come to pass for years to come. We might not even see it in our lifetime and that’s okay because if you are living a life filled with love then you know God and you know the promises he made. You know the kind of love that always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres! A love that is selfless, humble, patient, and kind. It’s the kind of love that flows from every fiber of your being. That kind of love will lead you to something truly great!
